It’s been a whole 10 years since I started my first business. I’ve really been reflecting a lot lately on where I’ve been, what I’ve learned, what I’m continuing to learn, and where I want to be. I’ve been so busy with life that I haven’t had a chance to capture it on paper or on the screen except in little snippits in a tiny notebook or in 1 run on sentence on twitter / facebook.
The past few month have been another whirlwind of media, interviews, fun photoshoots, a news appearance for BLINGO at Sputnik, and even a commercial spot where I’m on roller skates with my keytar airing in about a month. Simultaneously, I’m getting the new Fashion Denver space settled, getting my assistants settled and really beginning to focus on what needs to be done.
Lately, I’ve been realizing what my role is with Fashion Denver. I think I’m a conductor of sorts, a director, a facilitator, and a motivator. I’ve opened up my office to get the energy flowing and I try to be dilligent about being at my computer, but I realize that my role is often times NOT at the computer but with the people creating ideas and getting the ball rolling.
I’m finding my balance.
I just bought Kurt Kobain Journals at Twist and Shout yesterday when I was searching for a copy of the Asian Avenue Magazine. I’m so inspired to see his thoughts, lyrics, drawings and letters. It inspires me with my trunk full of journals that I’ll be sifting through as I write my book.
I’m so happy that I have all of these journals to reflect on from the past 15 years or so. Sometimes, I’m a little embarresed by my thoughts but am not ashamed or regretful of anything I’ve written. It’s funny how some things seem like such a big deal to you and then times goes by and you read it later and barely remember the moment.
I’m going to update the press page and then I’ve got to get ready for our location scouting today for a film project that I’m directing for a yoga client. Not just any yoga client, but with Kelly!! A friend from elementary school! It’s so much fun to work creatively in the adult life with good friends!!!
Happy day!!
